On what should be one of, if not the greatest night of Eric Bledsoe's life, the Birmingham school system has hired U.W. Clemon, a retired federal judge, and his law firm to independently investigate the academic records of Eric Bledsoe.
Bledsoe was picked 18th in the first round of the NBA draft, going to Oklahoma City, and was quickly traded to the L.A. Clippers for a future first round selection. This is a serious step that might decide if he was eligible to play his senior year at Parker High in Birmingham.
The Birmingham News is reporting that the former UK and Parker High star will be investigated by Clemon's partner, Mark White, who has more than 30 years experience as a trial litigator.
White also served one year as president of the Alabama State Bar. He has also conducted independent investigations on behalf of a number corporations.
"I have pledged our cooperation and assistance to Judge Clemon and Mr. White so that the truth regarding this controversy may be ascertained as soon as possible," says Birmingham Superintendent Craig Witherspoon in a statement.
"I will, however, make no further comment on this matter until the final report has been completed and submitted."
The New York Times first questioned Bledsoe's grades in a report last month.
