A Estill County woman was able to scare away a home invasion suspect who broke into her home late Tuesday morning.
The incident happened just before noon at a home on S. Irvine Road in Irvine. Police say the woman in the home, whose identity was not released, told them she was sitting in a chair when a man with a bandanna covering his face broke in, brandished a knife and demanded money.
Police say the woman immediately started screaming as loud as she could, and kept the intruder at bay with her feet while sitting in the chair before he ran out of the home.
Police say the suspect did not get away with any money or other items, and that the woman was not hurt.
Police are continuing to investigate.
