One year ago Saturday, three members of a family were killed when a home exploded.

It happened in Powell County on Upper Paint Creek Road. Officials say 84-year-old Jack Roberts was killed instantly.

"He stopped by and wanted me to look at his tractor and before I could get around there he had perished," remember Arthur Neek, Roberts' friend.

Roberts' son and daughter were at the home at the time of the explosion. They were trying to fix a propane tank. Both Jerry Roberts of Clay City and Karen Knox of Winchester later died from their burns.

Investigators say the explosion was just an accident.
