Six people escaped a burning home in Bourbon County early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out in a home along West Seventh Street. An 8-year-old girl inside the house says she woke up and thought she saw smoke and flames. She knew exactly what she needed to do - wake up everybody and get them out. She warned her father, and the three adults and three children were able to safely escape.
Once outside, the family members say they watched as smoke and flames enveloped their home.
Firefighters from several fire departments were still on the scene at 5:30 a.m., putting out hot spots.
Family members escaped into the cold night with only the clothes on their backs, but neighbors quickly came to their aid, bringing them warm clothing to wear.
There were no reported injuries.
There is no word on the cause of the fire.
