Family, Racers Honor Russell County Murder Victim

The family of Sarah Hart spoke to the large crowd at Wednesday's Bluegrass 10,000 Race in downtown Lexington.

Hart, 31, was attacked and killed last month after separating from her sister during a morning jog in Russell County.

A stranger, Christopher W. Allman, 28, was arrested, charged, and later indicted for her murder.

Hart was married with three children and was pregnant with the couple's fourth child when she was killed.

Hart's family attended the Lexington race to invite the crowd to a race they organized to celebrate Hart's life.

The creatively titled, "Run With All Your Hart" race is set for Aug. 11 in Russell Springs.

Hart's family is also taking donations to help cover race expenses.

Proceeds will fund scholarships in Hart's name for medical and pharmacy students. Hart was a pharmacist herself.

In his first TV interview, Hart's father told LEX 18's Adam Baker on Tuesday the race and the scholarships are the perfect kind of tributes.

"I think it will be a great feeling to know we had a hand, even if it's a small hand, in getting someone to the place she was," said Wendell Roberts.

To make donations directly to the fund, address your check payable to the Sarah Roberts Hart Fund, P.O. Box 1036, Jamestown, KY 42629.
