Across the United States on Sunday, Americans spent time remembering the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

In Morehead, friends and family gathered at the Hamilton Cemetery to share stories, release balloons and drink Edward Earhart's favorite drink - Ale-8.

Earhart served in the U.S. Navy and died in the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. His sister was among those remembering.

"In the morning, I had a good cry. Tonight, I'll have a good cry. But that's what keeps you going. You keep going. If you quit, the terrorists are winning, and I'm not going to let the terrorists win," Andrea Stauter said.

Last week, Earhart's family donated some of his belongings to a 9/11 exhibit at the Kentucky Historical Society's museum in Frankfort.
