Family members provided more details about a fire that killed a Whitley County woman Friday morning.
Officials say the fire broke out inside the home along Old Corbin Pike in Williamsburg around 2 a.m. Firefighters say the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. A husband and wife lived in the home. Family members say the woman woke her husband up. As he was going out the door, the man turned around and realized his wife was no longer behind him. Firefighters found the woman's body in a bathroom and say she likely died of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters have not determined the cause of the fire. They say the fire marshal will investigate, but they don't suspect any foul play.
Officials have not released the name of the woman killed.
