A Pike County family is mourning the deaths of four children and their father killed in a house fire.
The deadly fire broke out early Wednesday morning on Elswick Branch in the Jonancy community.
Family members identified the victims as five-year-old Dakota, four-year-old Tyler, two-year-old Cheyenne, six-month-old Emily, and their father, Billy Wilfong.
"I just want my kids back. I wish it would've been me, instead of them. They was just too young to go," said Jasmine Tucker, the aunt of the children.
"Every time I'd go up there, they'd holler at me and love on me and say 'papa! papa!," remembered grandfather, James Tucker.
Tammie Tucker, the childrens' mother and Wilfong's girlfriend was able to escape the house fire. She was severely burned and flown to University Of Kentucky hospital, where she remains Wednesday night in critical condition. Her family tells LEX 18 she is expected to survive.
"Just a lot of pain and hurt and I can just imagine what Tammie is going through, losing all five of them, her four kids and her boyfriend," said Flora Damoon, the childrens' great aunt. "They was loved and we will always be thinking of them and thinking of the good times."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the family says the home had no heat and all of those killed were sleeping in one room. They believe a space heater could have led to the fire.
