A police officer was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a Rowan County apartment building Friday afternoon.
The fire broke out at about noon at the building, located on Main Street in Morehead. Officials say all the residents home at the time were able to make it out safely and all pets were also taken out of the building.
A resident of the building said that it housed mostly students from Morehead State University. It is unclear how many students lived in the building, and how many apartments were damaged.
LEX 18 has a crew on the scene and will have more details as they become available.

We know that there was a woman that has 2 children that lost absolutely everything that they owned. The womans wallet was even in the apartment when it burned. They need all the help that they can get. The woman wears 2x in Shirts, 16-18 in pants; the boy wears 2T and the girl wears 4T clothes. This is from a worker at the day care that her children attend. She walks them to the daycare and then walks to McDonald's to work, no transportation. Please help this family.
