A fire badly damaged a Lexington home and killed two dogs early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to the house on Elmwood Drive around 12:30 a.m. Crews knocked the fire down quickly, but nobody was home at the time, and it appears it might have burned for a while before it was discovered. One neighbor reports smelling smoke in the area earlier.
Nobody was injured, but firefighters could not save the father and son's two dogs.
A fire investigator was called to the scene, but firefighters say at this point, it appears the fire was accidental in nature.
