No one was home when a Lexington house went up in flames Friday afternoon.
Firefighters say the fire started in the lower level of the split foyer home on Mount McKinley Way around 2 p.m.
"We actually made a pretty quick stop on the fire. It just had a little bit of a head start on us," said Batallion Chief Brian Wainscott.
The fire had burned the lower and upper parts of the home by the time firefighters could put it out.
Firefighters are investigating the cause, but say it appears to be accidental.
The house is not a complete loss, and the damage looks worse than it is, firefighters said.
"The lower windows down in the brick part of the structure; the fire is obviously blowing out of there, and as it catches onto the more combustible siding, obviously it looks a lot worse," said Chief Wainscott.
