A 12-year-old and his grandfather escaped a Scott County barn fire Thursday afternoon.
Andrew Wiseman credits his gut-instinct for saving them.
"I just had a feeling to get out."
Wiseman and his grandfather were cleaning equipment in the barn. Moments after they left, it went up in flames.
"Eventually, the smoke just got so bad we left. And within, you know, three or four minutes of when we left, it was like an explosion. It just caught on fire. The whole face was like a forest fire. Not much you could have done after that," Wiseman said.
There was little firefighters could do other than keep the flames from spreading. The blaze destroyed the barn, along with about 300 bales of hay and some antique equipment.
"Right now, it looks horrible. I could cry because we put a lot of hard work into this barn," Wiseman said.
There were no injuries reported.
