A firefighter was hospitalized after battling a blaze in Anderson County Wednesday evening.
Cleaners working inside the building housing Monster Rings & Cages along Cable Court, just off US-127 north of downtown Lawrenceburg, heard a strange sound and spotted smoke around 7:15 p.m. Officials say the business makes rings and steel cages used for boxing, wrestling and MMA events. Firefighters say gases used in the manufacturing process made fighting a fire a challenge. Some firefighters suffered minor injuries and one was hospitalized.
"We have had a couple of minor injuries. One was transported to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center for evaluation. It seems to be minor at this time," Anderson County Fire Department chief Mike Barnes said.
Officials didn't say how badly the building was damaged.
