FRANKFORT (AP) - Kentucky will be a free-for-all this weekend, at least as far as fishing is concerned.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources says children younger than 16 always fish free, and for Saturday and Sunday this week, adults can do the same.
In cities or larger communities, people have access to 34 lakes enrolled in the Fishing in Neighborhoods program. The lakes are located in parks accessible to the public and with good fishing from the bank. In 25 locations, the lakes were stocked recently with channel catfish in preparation for the free fishing weekend. For more information, visit http://fw.ky.gov/urbanfishing.asp .
There are also counties across the state with special events geared toward children this weekend. For more information, visit http://parks.ky.gov .
