Police in Jessamine County arrested a man after finding five one-step meth labs inside the trunk of a car Wednesday night.
Police say a vehicle pulled in behind a home and two people tried to run when officers made a traffic stop along Lexington Avenue in Wilmore around 11 p.m. Officers caught the driver, but the passenger managed to get away. Police brought in a K9, and the dog indicated the presence of drugs. Police say officers searched the car and found five meth labs in the trunk.
"Of the five labs, our understanding is that one was actively cooking at the time and the other four were inactive," Wilmore Police Department Sgt. Nelson Shrout said.
A Kentucky State Police Drug Task Force agent came and dismantled the meth labs.
Police arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant. Investigators have not released the man's name because charges related to the meth lab remain pending.
