The Department for Public Health says that flu cases in Kentucky have been downgraded from widespread to regional.
That means the flu has been seen in less than half the region. The state had stayed at widespread for nine weeks.
The flu season can begin as early as October and last through May, and usually peaks between January and March.
Right now, there have been 131 confirmed cases of the flu reported in Lexington.
