The former Jackson County clerk once accused of murder is back in jail.
Jerry Wayne Dean was arrested more than a decade ago for the 2001 murder of a former employee.
Audrey Marcum was found shot to death at her home. Marcum had once worked for Dean and filed a multi-million dollar sexual harrassment suit against him.
Jerry Dean had served as Jackson County's clerk for 13 years. He lost in 2002 while facing charges for Marcum's murder.
After a highly publicized trial, Dean was acquitted by the jury, but was never able to win back the seat he lost during the investigation.
Dean is now back behind bars, charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Police in Corbin tell LEX-18, Dean was arrested Tuesday morning outside of the Burger King after someone reported an argument between two men in a vehicle.
Investigators found a single oxycodone pill.
Investigators also found 10 prescription blanks from a Florida pain clinic.
