Franklin County High School named a new head baseball coach last week.

Former Dunbar assistant Kevin Goins will get his first opportunity as a head coach. Goins was with the Bulldogs when they won their state championship in 2003. The 1989 Lafayette High School grad played college ball at Indiana University and currently coaches the Kentucky Baseball Club 18 year old team.

Deron McDonald stepped down after coaching the Flyers for 14 seasons. Franklin County went 28-10-1 in 2012 and earned a trip to the 11th Region Tournament, where they fell to Tates Creek 9-0 in the opening round.
