HARLAN, Ky. (AP) - A former teacher in southeastern Kentucky has been arrested on charges he sexually abused a 14-year-old boy.
Kentucky State Police charged 47-year-old Deron F. Saylor of Coldiron with first-degree sexual abuse, unlawful transaction with a minor and two other felonies related to obscene materials allegedly sent to the boy.
An arrest warrant says Saylor subjected the boy to sexual contact while being a person of authority.
Harlan County Schools Superintendent Mike Howard told the Harlan Daily Enterprise Saylor had lost his teaching job at Rosspoint Elementary in Baxter due to budget cuts. He continued as a substitute in the district after that, and police say he was in that role when the alleged crimes occurred.
Police say Saylor allegedly sent obscene materials to the juvenile and gave him alcohol.
