A former Lexington radio personality pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges Wednesday afternoon in Fayette County Circuit Court.
Roy D. Baldridge, 36, was arrested Tuesday, first for weapons charges then later on four counts of having child porn inside his house. Baldridge, who went by the name "Dusty Dan" as part of the "Moo Crew" morning show on 98.1 The Bull, is no longer employed by Clear Channel Lexington, which owns the radio station.
Newly-released court documents and statements from investigators are shedding more light on the evidence against Baldridge. Investigators say they found nearly 500 "erotic and explicit images of pre-pubescent boys" after searching Baldridge's home on Malabu Drive. According to court papers, many of those images showed the young boys "engaged in anal and oral sodomy." Detectives tell LEX 18 that there was "so much incriminating evidence" that they picked the four worst images to present to the court.
LEX 18 news has also learned that one picture in particular shocked investigators. Detectives handling the case say there was one picture of a teen boy, wearing swim trunks, lying on the beach. Next to him, spelled out in sea shells, were the numbers: "98.1". Detectives say it was a picture most likely submitted to for a 98.1 The Bull contest at several years ago.
Investigators also say they have not yet looked at the files on the two computers Baldridge allegedly used, one of which police took from his parents home off Tates Creek Road.
Later this month, the Project Safe Childhood Task Force will look into which law enforcement agency, either state or federal, is better prepared to handle the case against Baldridge.
The investigation that led to Baldridge's arrest began Tuesday morning when a neighbor called police after spotting two men parked outside in a car acting suspiciously. When police arrived, Baldridge told them his home had been broken into. Police questioned the two men sitting outside Baldridge's house and they told them they had taken guns from his home.
Dustin Dunson, 23, of Lexington and Aaron Campbell, 22, of Louisville are both facing charges of first-degree burglary.
Police said they questioned Baldridge after they ran the serial numbers on the guns and they came back stolen, and officers said Baldridge had no explanation. He was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a defaced firearm.
Baldridge is being held on a $5,000 full cash bond at the Fayette County Detention Center. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 23.
