Former Lexington Officer Sentenced To Eight Years For DUI Incident

A former Lexington Police officer who pleaded guilty to being under the influence when he hit a pedestrian walking along the Legacy Trail last March was sentenced to eight years in prison in the case Friday.

Investigators say former Lexington Police Department officer Keith Todd, 43, was likely drunk and on drugs when he drove his Mercedes onto the path near the Coldwater Creek research farm. Todd hit Penelope Bentley as she walked along the path with a friend.

EMS took Bentley to UK Hospital. Officials say she underwent surgery and was eventually released.

Police say Todd told officers he was on his way home from Crittenden County at the time if the incident. They arrested him and charged him with DUI and assault.
