A former northern Kentucky volleyball coach accused of having a sexual relationship with a middle school student entered a not guilty plea in court.
Cassandra Elfers is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old. The 21-year-old worked as a para-professional and part time coach at Sharp Middle School in the Pendleton County school district.
The boy played on a basketball team coached by Elfers' ex-boyfriend, and she often helped out on the team.
Elfers' attorney says it's unclear what the teen has said, but he believes the case is likely based on an allegation of inappropriate touching. He says his client never had sex with the alleged victim and she never sent any text messages to the boy's phone.
