(AP) - A former Lexington teacher has been sentenced to one week in jail and 90 days of house arrest for her role in sex crimes against juvenile students decades ago.

Roberta Blackwell Walter was taken into custody Friday after a judge accepted her amended plea deal with prosecutors that allowed her to plead guilty to sexual misconduct rather than more serious sodomy charges. An initial plea deal had called for no jail time, but the judge signaled at a previous hearing he might reject that.

Walter had testified against another fellow teacher, Jack Russell Hubbard, who was convicted of sodomy and rape charges last July and sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison.
