Laurel County police say four people were hurt in a five-vehicle pileup Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 1 p.m. on U.S. 25 about three miles south of London. Police say apparently a Suzuki car driven by Georgia Brown, 55, was northbound on U.S. 25 and was attempting a left turn onto a business parking lot. There were cars behind the Suzuki also traveling northbound. An Altima driven by a 17-year-old female driver from London was unable to stop for the slowing and stopping vehicles (that were stopping for the Suzuki car making a left turn)
The Altima stuck the car in front of her in the rear, a gray Pontiac car-driven by Emily Burkhart, 20, of Corbin and the gray Pontiac was knocked into the southbound lane of U.S. 25, hitting a south bound Silverado pickup truck, and then the gray Pontiac was knocked into another northbound car's rear, a silver Kia driven by Danita Andes, 45, of London. That knocked the car into the Suzuki that originally was turning left.
The five vehicles came to rest, blocking U.S. 25 . A total of four people were injured and all injured were taken by Ambulance Inc. Of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital of London for treatment of injuries.
