Somerset police have made a fourth arrest in a local theft ring that involves people stealing meat and other items from large stores and re-selling the items to smaller stores.
Tina Adler, 29, is the latest to be arrested in connection with this ring. Before her, police arrested Jonathan Lewis, 25, Steven Napier, 27, and Steven Saylor, 33.
Police say the operation would start at a big chain like Walmart or Kroger. The thieves stole items like meat and laundry detergent, then sold those goods to mom and pop stores across central Kentucky.
Police say more arrests may be forthcoming, Detectives believe in some cases workers at the independent stores buying the goods possibly knew exactly what they were getting into and actually placed orders for what they wanted.
Because the thieves sold to stores in several different counties, Somerset police say it's up to police in those places to continue investigating and possibly press charges.
Police say the last time they arrested anyone involved in a theft ring like this was in the 1990's.
