Police in Frankfort are trying to track down the woman who left a chihuahua puppy to die.
On Tuesday, employees at the Frankfort Sewer Department say they saw a woman in a late model silver Chevrolet SUV carry a box out of her car and put it on the river bank, then drive off.
Employees found a five week old puppy inside the box. Vets say the puppy would have died if it had not been found quickly.
Frankfort police say when they track down the woman she will be charged with second-degree animal cruelty.
The puppy is being taken care of by the Humane Society.
