Seven months after fire destroyed a favorite Frankfort hangout, area residents are getting a long at the new and improved McDonald's.

Last December, a fire sparked by an old heating system, gutted the restaurant along Versailles Road.

"I don't think I'll ever forget seeing one of our businesses on fire, blue flames coming out of the building, that is forever etched in my memory," franchise owner Joe Graviss said.

Looking around the new McDonald's, you quickly realize this restaurant is a little different. Personal touches abound, from photos of tulips on the wall to the garden outside.

"I just love those images," Graviss said.

The grand re-opening is scheduled Thursday morning at 5 a.m.
