It's been four days since a Dunbar baseball player was hurt while in Florida after he dove into the ocean and hit the sand below, head-first. Travis Gaines' is still in the hospital in Florida, meanwhile back home in Lexington, his friends, family and even strangers are rallying together to help him.
"We are just going to show him how much love we've got for him and how many people are behind him," says Jessica Mays, Travis' cousin.
The outpouring of support for Travis Gaines has been heart-warming for his family, as Travis faces possible paralysis after his accident last week. On Saturday, the encouragement comes from those dining out at Buffalo Wild Wings.
"We are so thankful for all the love and generosity and support. It's just meant the world to the family and to Travis," says Mays.
15% of the proceeds at the Lexington locations will go towards Travis' recovery, another positive step in the right director for the young baseball player.
"The hope is if he continues to do as well as he is now he will start rehab next week," says Mays. "We are hoping to get him back up here and start his rehab on the road to recovery."
The rest of the Dunbar baseball team dined out at Buffalo Wild Wings Saturday night as well, as a show of support for their teammate. Something the family and Travis, just can't get enough of.
"Today has been a good day for him," says Mays. We are taking everything day by day and we are all just staying positive for him."
