Garrard County High School is once again searching for a new head basketball coach.
Garrard County athletics director Kalem Grasham says Brandon Cooper resigned on Friday.
According to the Danville Advocate Messenger, Cooper accepted an assistant coaching job at Pulaski County. The coach told Grasham the fact that Pulaski County offered his wife a position as well drove his decision.
The move comes as a surprise. Cooper is a Garrard County native and Golden Lion alum. He called the Golden Lion head coaching position a "dream job." According to the Advocate Messenger, Grasham expected hiring Cooper last year would bring some stability to the Garrard County program.
The Golden Lions have gone through six head coaches over the past eight seasons.
In his only season as head-man, Cooper led Garrard County to a 12-18 record.
