Police in Georgetown say they have identified a man who pulled a knife and threatened to kill a store clerk during a shoplifting incident last week.
Police say Matthew Howard left the Georgetown Shoes (Outfitters Connection) store with a pair of boots that he did not pay for last Wednesday. A clerk followed the man into the parking lot and asked him to pay for the merchandise or return it. When he refused, the clerk grabbed the man's arm. Police say at that point, the suspect hit the clerk in the face, then pulled a large knife and threatened to cut her throat if she didn't back off. As the suspect headed away from the clerk, toward a nearby fence, he threatened to kill the clerk, her child, who was in the store, and the owner.
Investigators say they think Howard might be driving a black 2001 Chevy Impala.
If you have any information about Howard's whereabouts, call Georgetown police at 502-863-7826.
