A Harrison County home is badly damaged following an afternoon fire.
It happened just outside of Cynthiana around 3:00 Sunday afternoon.
Fire officials say they arrived just 5 minutes after they got the call, but the house was already fully engulfed in flames. They say fortunately no one was home when the fire broke out.
Fire crews were forced to fight the fire from the outside of the home because of structural issues, but after a couple of hours they were able to get inside to check for hotspots.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but an arson investigator has been called to the scene.
"I know a furnace man was here today working, and a house cleaner was here, and then someone broke down in front home," says Assistant Chief Charles Carson with Harrison County Fire and Rescue.
Family members say they won't be able to stay the night but have made arrangements to stay with other family members in the area.
