We broke the 100 degree threshold Thursday in a big way with low 100s in many areas. 102 in Lexington and record highs in Louisville, Jackson & London. Today will see a continuation of our late June heat wave with highs again soaring to the low 100s and a heat advisory out area wide Friday afternoon and evening. It'll be slightly more humid this afternoon which will push the heat index a degree or two above our air temperature (close to 105). Overall... another scorching day in the Commonwealth! Stay hydrated, avoid working outside in the heat of the day and check on your outdoor pets.
There is the slightest chance a few showers and storms firing along a stalled out front over southern Indiana and Ohio could dive far enough south to clip northern Bluegrass counties late Friday into early Saturday morning. Skies will go from mostly to partly sunny today and the heat hangs on into the weekend. After low 70s tonight we'll jump back to the low 100s Saturday under partly sunny skies. More heat for the end of the weekend but we should back off to the mid to upper 90s Sunday into Monday. Aside from our slim chance for a few showers and storms north tonight and again late in the weekend we're looking dry into next week.
