"The Back Pack Program came about as a solution to a very real problem facing children in our country today," said Marian Guinn, God's Pantry Food Bank CEO. "Hunger is affecting so many families right here in Kentucky, and while we know that many parents are sacrificing meals to feed their children, we also know that sometimes even the kids in these homes are forced to go without."
God's Pantry Food Bank currently operates 14 Back Pack Programs that feed over 2,000 children each month. "Having $45,000 secured for next school year is a big step towards us being able to expand the program to more hungry children." Says Youth Services and Nutrition Coordinator Rohan Krehbiel.
"As far as expansion for this program, we are only limited by funding," Guinn said. "This is an expensive program for the food bank, since such specific foods are needed, but an extremely worthwhile investment."
