A recap of a few area boys' high school basketball games played Tuesday evening.
Three Dunbar players hit double figure as the Bulldogs won their fifth straight game, a 67-39 victory over Madison Southern. Senior guard Mike Smith led the way with 13 points. E Floreal pitched in with 12 and Eric Trigg finished with 11 points. Tyler Abshear led Madison Southern, and all players, with 16 points. Dunbar lost its first three games of the season, but turned things around with five wins in its last five games. The streak includes victories over Lafayette, Mopdel, Bryan Station and Lexington Christian.
George Rogers Clark edged Bourbon County 57-56 for its second win of the season. Riley Caudill capped a Cardinal comeback, draining a free throw with less than three seconds on the clock. Khamarkis Blanton led GRC with 19 points. Caudill finished with 16, Luke Sharrock scored 11 off the bench. Charles Johnson was the top scorer for Bourbon County with 19 points.
Thirteen players made their way onto the score sheet for Harrison County in a 95-52 victory over Franklin County. Elijah Gross led the Thorobreds with 13 points. Dillon Pulliam finished with 12. Ryan Schneider was the high-scorer for the Flyers with 11 points.
Hazard improved to 8-0 with a 76-27 blowout of Prestonsburg. The Bulldogs led 40-16 at halftime. Christopher Hudson and Collier Mobelini both scord 10 points for Hazard. Thirteen Bulldog players scored in the game.
Will Hager scored 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Mercer County 83-54 victory over Burgin. John Ingram pitched in with 16 points for the Titans. Mercer County improved to 5-2 with the win.
Powell County snapped a seven game losing streak with a 68-47 victory over Berea. Brett Goodwin paced the Pirates with 16 points. Caleb McCoy scored 13 and Trey Marcum finished with 11.
