There was a reordering at the top in the most recent boys' AP high school basketball poll. Trinity vaulted into the top spot as Henry Clay tumbled to No. five.
With three straight victories over ranked teams, including a 53-52 win over then No.1 Ballard, the Shamrocks pushed the Bruins out of the top spot. Ballard fell to second.
Henry Clay's 56-54 loss to Bryan Station on Jan. 19 resulted in a tumble from second down to fifth. The Blue Devils rebounded with wins over Franklin County and Tates Creek.
The win over Henry Clay garnered Bryan Station (13-6) some attention in the polling, but not enough to get the Defenders into the top 10. A day after upsetting the Blue Devils, Bryan Station dropped a 58-51 decision to Woodford County (12-9).
Madison Central stayed put in fourth, behind No. 3 Bullitt East. The Indians extended their win streak to eight games with victories over Lincoln County and Tates Creek.
Scott County maintained a toe-hold in the top 10 - barely - sliding it at tenth. The Cardinals lost back to back games to Bryan Station and Collins, but rebounded to win three straight, with victories over Dixie Heights (62-37), Perry County Central (75-56) and Franklin County (81-49).
Marion County kept right on winning and stayed on top of the girls' rankings. The undefeated Lady Knights have outscored opponents 1604-836.
Anderson County picked up wins over Shelby County and South Oldham, and avenged an early season loss to Bryan Station with a 65-45 victory to stay firmly in control of the second spot.
Madison Central fell to then No. 7 Ballard, but earned wins over Casey County, Lexington Catholic and George Rogers Clark. The Indians fell two spots to fifth as the Lady Bruins leapfrogged from seventh up to No. 4.
Clay County picked up four more wins. The Lady Tigers knocked off Woodford County, Bourbon County Scott County and Bell County. Clay County held steady at tenth.
