High School Student Sets Up 9-11 Memorial In Downtown Lexington

A Lexington high school student organized a 9/11 memorial in downtown Lexington.

Megan Jackson, 17, along with volunteers, set up 2,977 flags in a 9/11 pattern in honor of those killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the vacant downtown Centrepointe project lot.

"I just really wanted to honor those that died and remember them on 9/11," Jackson said.

Lexington firefighters and police officers will also remember those who have died in the line of duty during a ceremony at the Monument to the Fallen downtown at Phoenix Park. The Lexington Fire Department and Lexington Police Department honor guard will place a wreath at the memorial at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
