A Bourbon County woman lost everything in a house fire Monday evening, including many of the animals she cared for.

The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. in the home along Burris Road. Fire officials say Deborah Craig lived in the house with her dogs, cats and rabbits. She was out of town in Michigan for surgery when the blaze broke out. Officials say 60 or more rabbits and 30 cats died in the fire.

"Her air conditioning unit went out, and she'd gone to Michigan to have surgery, and she had four fans going, and other people were taking care of her animals, but I guess the fans overheated, and we think it all started from the far corner," Little Rock Volunteer Fire Dept. Asst. Chief Ralph Tobin said.

Officials say Craig is still in Michigan recovering from her surgery, but does know about the fire.

Investigators have not officially determined the cause of the blaze.
