The inmate who admitted to taking a Madison County sheriff's deputy's gun and pointing it at him has been sentenced.
Steven Chaney, 21, of Powell County was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crime. Chaney admitted that after appearing in court last March, while being taken out of the courthouse, he broke free from the deputy, grabbed the gun and pointed it at him.
Under federal law, Chaney must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
