Police say a one of two inmates who escaped from the Marion Adjustment Center last week who was spotted Monday morning when he allegedly stole a car during a test drive from a Nelson County car dealership has been arrested.
Police say Ronny Stutes, who escaped from the Marion Adjustment Center on November 2, was arrested early Monday afternoon at the Walmart in Fern Creek in Jefferson County. That's just down the street from a bank that was robbed earlier in the day, and police are trying to determine if Stutes is a suspect in that robbery.
Bardstown police received a stolen vehicle report at about 9 30 a.m. Police were told that a salesman with 44 Auto in Bardstown had been providing a test drive and was driving Stutes in a light green Ford Escape. Stutes allegedly requested the salesman go inside Walmart to surprise his daughter as he explained the vehicle purchase was a gift to her. When the salesman returned the vehicle and Stutes were gone.
Police say the salesman identified the suspect as Stutes.
