Investigators say they hope a man burned in Monday's house explosion in Lexington can lead them to the person responsible for the blast.
Officials say just hours after the vacant home along Campbell Street exploded, a man showed up at UK Hospital suffering from burns. He was treated and released. Late Monday night, the man showed up at a woman's home on Ross Avenue, asking for food. She called 911, and he was taken back to the hospital for further treatment.
Investigators say the man was at the Campbell Street house during the blast and may have information on who caused it. Fire officials say somebody, likely stealing copper, knocked over a hot water heater, causing damage to a gas line at a house. The leaking gas led to an explosion around 1 a.m. Monday.
Fire investigators say they have the name of a person of interest in the case.
