Investigators Looking Into Lexington House Fire

Fire investigators will look more closely into the cause of an early morning house fire in Lexington Wednesday.

A neighbor spotted smoke coming from a home along Sparks Road, off Liberty Road, around 2 a.m. There was nobody inside the house, and firefighters quickly put out the blaze. Firefighters say most of the damage was confined to the outside of the home and a front room.

"I think anytime it's 2 a.m., it's easy to say suspicious. But we are investigating. It appears to have started on the outside of the house, but we won't know that until we get in there and look at it," Lexington Fire Department Battalion Chief Brian Wainscott said.

Nobody was hurt.
