An Iraq war veteran is now battling a mysterious illness at the VA Hospital in Lexington.
Kenton Bray, 30, was deployed in 2006. He later returned home to Estill County, and doctors diagnosed him with "probable post traumatic stress disorder." Over the next few years, Bray lost a tremendous amount of weight. He is now bed-ridden in a room at the VA hospital.
"It's hard to see your child lay there and dwindle down to 72 pounds. It's unimaginable unless you've been there," his mother said. "He's afraid to even see his children because he doesn't want to scare them."
Family members say doctors have not been able to figure what is wrong with Bray. They say they can't take him to specialists because some hospitals don't accept his veterans' insurance. Family members say they are considering creating a fund to help cover some of Bray's medical expenses.
