CBS2 Chicago.com is reporting that Billy Gillispie has a shot at coming back to coach next season in the Big East.
Chicago radio personality Mike North says his sources tell him that the former Kentucky coach is a likely candidate for DePaul.
In January, DePaul fired Coach Jerry Wainwright, after the team lost 22 straight regular-season games in the Big East Conference. He was replaced on an interim basis by assistant Tracy Webster.
Webster was an assistant for Gillisipie at Kentucky.
Gillispie coached at Kentucky for less than two years before he was fired in March 2009. Gillispie went 40-27 in two seasons with the Wildcats.
In September 2009, he was arrested for drunken driving in Lawrenceburg, Ky.
North believes that one of the attractions of Gillispie is that DePaul can hire him at the right price because he's looking to get back into coaching.
Whoever takes over at DePaul has a major rebuilding job, which was Gillispie's strength when he moved to Lexington. DePaul is in last place in the Big East with a 1-12 record. Overall, they are only 8-17.

I can't believe a Div 1 program is even looking at Billy Clyde - he seems destined for a few years of reputation re-building before he gets another shot at Div 1.
