Clark County and Scott County has been circled on most people’s calendars since the beginning of the season. Cardinal fans had to wait another day for the game because it was postponed until Sunday because of snow but it was well worth the wait. The game came down to Scott County’s ability to turn the Cardinals over. Clark had 4 turnovers in the final two minutes and Scott County came back from six down to retake the lead with 30 seconds left in the game. Clark County had a chance for the win but Robbie Stenzel who finished with 21 points dribbled the ball off his foot out of bounds. Scott County inbounded the ball with 13 seconds left and held the ball until the final seconds when Chad Jackson put an exclamation on the win with a huge dunk. Jackson finished with 27 points and said after the game it was a great win, “This atmosphere was like it will be a Rupp come March. We played a great game and beat a great team.”
On the other side of the ball the Cardinals of Clark County were devastated they let a 6 point lead with two minutes left slip away. “It’s a tough loss and it makes you want to work twice as hard in practice. The way the sweet sixteen draw was set up we could see them again only the next time it will be for a state title.” said Vinny Zollo. Zollo did not play particularly well as he went 2 for 13 from the field but he did finished with 13 points on 9 of 10 shooting from the free throw line.
