John Calipari called Joe B. Hall Thursday morning to reveal the final roster for the Kentucky Pros team Hall will coach in an exhibition game against Calipari in August.
"I didn't know where to begin," Hall said of the eight man roster of John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, Jodie Meeks, Keith Bogans, Tayshaun Prince, Rajon Rondo and Nazr Mohammed.
The group will face the Dominican Republic National team - coached by Calipari - in an exhibition game at Rupp arena on Aug. 15.
Hall coached his final season at Kentucky in 1985. The 82-year old kidded that he has plans to implement his usual game plan with his new team, even if he only has them for one night.
"I'm a little worried about the practice time," he said with a smile. "To get 26 offensive plays with five options each, run three defenses, changing every possession, I need a little bit more time than 15 minutes in the pregame."
"Maybe with those players it's best to turn them lose, let them play their game. Sometimes, they can play better than I can coach," he said.
Hall said he was thrilled that Calipari would include him in the special event. Though he did poke fun at the reaction of one local sportscaster in Lexington - who he said implied that Hall was too old to still coach.
"I just wonder where that guy's been? Do you know Joe [Paterno] at Penn State? My gosh, us old guys still got plenty of fire," he said.
Hall joked that he's considering adding a ninth player to the team: his assistant coach for the game, Sam Bowie.
""It may come to dressing him out. I think Sam could still take a lot of players," he said.
