John Wall is hurting both mentally and physically.
Like all great competitors, being sidelined with an injury is driving him crazy. Plus, he's now missed 40% of Washington's games this year and the percentage is only going up.
The talk has been Wall's problem was knee tendinitis. It's worse, it's a bone bruise under his right kneecap.
"I had a feeling it wasn't just tendinitis," Wall told the Washington Post.
Playing through pain can at times be good, and at times it can really set you back. The former UK star believes this problem developed because he was compensating on earlier foot and knee injuries on the left side of his body.
"I was like, 'If it's tendinitis, I would've played through it.' Tendinitis is very painful, but I played through it summer league, I play through it now. I couldn't do no squats or I couldn't really run or I couldn't cut, so I knew it had to be something more than that."
Wall is upset.
"It's pretty tough."
"I've probably missed five, six games out of my whole life playing basketball. This is the most I've missed. So it's frustrating, trying to rehab, and seeing my team out there and can't be out there and can't make plays. I think my team is doing a great job of fighting and doing as much as they can. I just can't wait to get back out there with them."
With the trading of Gilbert Arenas, it paves the way for Wall to be the man.
"It's good to know it's my team."
Cousins update: Former Kentucky teammate Patrick Patterson of the Rockets says that the Sacramento Kings rookie center DeMarcus Cousins will eventually be "a version" of Shaquille O'Neal.
"But he'll be a version that can shoot and dribble," Patterson said.
Cousins had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks as Sacramento lost to Houston. Patterson didn't play. Chuck Hayes, who might be the most underpaid player in the NBA had 11 rebounds, 6 points, and 3 assists in 26 minutes.
