John Wall Is Frustrated

John Wall doesn't look like he's smiling as much as he was earlier in the season.

When I asked him if that was true, he agreed.

Wall was called out by Cal after the Cats lost to South Carolina. Cal was trying to defend Patrick Patterson who was taking some heat for his play, and in the process, he was strong about Wall.

"I don't know. He said I played awful," says John Wall.

"I didn't think I played that bad. I don't know what to expect. He's probably going to say I played bad today too so. I don't know. I just try not to listen to him and go out and play basketball and try and help my team win."

You could hear it in Walls voice that he was down. Cal's comments bothered him.

"Yeah, I think it's going to bother any player when he tells you that."

Wall is searching for answers. He's not sure why he's so unhappy.

"To be honest, I really haven't been having fun for the last two weeks. It's just being frustrated and things like that so, I just got to figure it out before we go further in league play."

Frustrated with how your playing, the team is playing, what is going on, is it just a lull in the season ?

"'Frustrated with everything. I don't know, one through twenty. Any ideas it is."

The Cats had just beaten Vandy to go to 20-1. But Wall looked like the Cats had just lost two in a row.

Really, Cutler? This is your story? I saw the video. So Wall is frustrated. He is a young guy adjusting to a lot of things. He has a huge future, and no doubt has plenty of people pulling him in different directions, telling him this or that. He and his team just came off a big loss, but it appeared today that they are at work righting the ship.
I checked the other stations and they didn't cover this on their website tonight, nor did the local paper. So you broke the story, big guy. Congrats. A college basketball player is frustrated with his coach. Now THAT'S news.

The disturbing point you're missing is that this was his interview right after his TEAM had WON a ballgame.  This was his post game interview after the WIN on Saturday.  If it had been right after SC, that's one thing, but after a team win, it's another.  I hope he doesn't let his "greatness" get in his way!

Personally I think john wall is overrated.  downey made him look like a jr. high player.  He forces too much and is out of control 70% of the time.  i don't think he really likes to be coached or to be given advice.  he and cousins both need to be in the nba , where you don't need a coach.

Downey made him look what???? Are you frigging kidding me??? He was 9 for 29. He was out of control at best and got some really great gift calls from the officials. A brush is a foul? When UK players are hitting the floor on drives and no calls. Gimme a break. What game did you watch? We lost that game because we didn't execute and didn't hustle. Not because of Downey...thats for damn sure. It was a gift from us to them. Let's hope we don't give any more away. As far as John's play and him having fun he needs to step back and just look at the tapes. The double teams are coming from all over. If he looks to pass more on his drives then teams can't afford to double him as much. This in turn will open up the game for him. His drives have also been too deep last few games and he's leaving his feet on the pass. This is something he can correct easily just by breaking down tapes. He'll be fine. John is bar none the best point guard in the SEC and most likely the nation. I've been playing and watching ball for 40 years now and I've never seen a kid with such talent at such a young age. The sky is the limit with this kid. Lookout once he hones his skills a bit more.
