As they always seem to do, rumors have started popping up about John Calipari leaving Kentucky for the NBA. Whether it be for the Miami Heat, or the latest rumor in the New York Knicks, Calipari has said he expects these rumors every year.
Cal's former point guard John Wall had something to say about that. Wall was asked if he thought UK's coach would return to the NBA if offered a job.
"If he makes that decision, that would be good, but I think he will stay at Kentucky," Wall said. "That was his dream job. The Big Blue Nation is a crowd that really love college basketball; they're the best fans I have been around. They love him there."
From Derrick Rose to Tyreke Evans to Wall to Brandon Knight, Calipari has become the coach to play for if you're a point guard looking to get to the next level. He's got another one coming in next year in Marquis Teague.
Earlier this week, Calipari offered scholarships to two players from the same team, one in the class of 2013 and one in the class of 2014. By his recruiting trail, he doesn't appear to be a coach with aspirations to up and leave.
The Knicks job, however, could be quite lucrative and there's even been some speculation that Cal could be not only the coach there, but also the GM. That would be a tempting offer for anyone. Coaching LeBron and the Heat? Another pretty sweet deal. Time will tell if Cal's dream job is enough to keep him around, but True Blue Fans certainly hope Wall is right.
