FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A judge has ordered Kentucky officials to release documents related to the death of a 20-month-old boy who was in the state foster care system when he died.

Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd ruled Tuesday that the Attorney General's office was wrong when it said records related to the death of Kayden Daniels in Monticello were confidential.

The Courier-Journal reported that Shepherd criticized the Attorney General's decision, saying there was no basis for withholding the documents. The Louisville paper and the Lexington Herald-Leader requested records on the state's oversight of the case.

Five people have been charged with murder in Kayden's death, including his parents.

Prosecutors say Kayden died in May 2009 after drinking drain cleaner that had been left in a coffee cup.
