KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A jury begins deliberations Thursday on the sentence for a Kentucky man convicted in the carjacking and torture killing of a young Knoxville couple.

Twenty-six-year-old George Thomas decided not to testify Wednesday at his one-day sentencing hearing. The court did hear impact statements from the victims' families.

Thomas, of Lebanon, Ky., could receive the death penalty.

Jurors found him guilty on Tuesday in the January 2007 murders of 21-year-old Channon Christian and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Christopher Newsom.

In earlier trials, ringleader Lemaricus Davidson was sentenced to death and his brother Letalvis Cobbins of Lebanon, Ky., was sentenced to life without parole. Eric Boyd was convicted of being an accessory and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
